Sometimes in life, we become fearful of what our future may hold for us.

There are times when we also face complete distress and/or discontentment. Whether it be in the form of career, health, family, finances, etc.

Many times we face extreme circumstances…
Often one right after another…
Oftentimes, it can become so overwhelming that we do not see the light at the end of the tunnel. We fear what the future may or may not hold. The burden becomes so heavy that we cannot stand it anymore. What is it that we are to do in these moments?

As I was studying, I was reminded of three spiritual heavy-weights— heroes of faith– Moses, Elijah, and Jeremiah.

Though they were flawed- as we all are- we would not be apt to call them spiritually immature. These three men cried desperate cries out to God. When they felt life was too much and questioned their existence, they suddenly found themselves speaking to and pouring their heart and hurt out to God.

I believe that today, God wants some of us to cry out to him…a real, raw, ugly, uninhibited, unfiltered cry. As we taste the goodness of God, it is also true that we will face the painful brutality of life.

He wants us to know that we are not alone. Even some of God’s choice servants have felt intense failure and frustration in life. Their prayers were not a sign of spiritual deficiency; they were an indication of spiritual health.

Cry out to Him today.

The moment you have clarity with your vision and start living accordingly is the moment you will begin to face the most opposition.

Is it me, or are we afraid of risk? It seems as though we live in these bubbles of “safety” where we incessantly work to keep things from getting out of hand. I’m not talking about COVID. I’m talking about that job you’ve been looking at that would provide margin. Or that workout routine you’ve been putting off (speaking to myself here). That person you should be asking forgiveness from, or more importantly that person you need to forgive. Maybe it’s a volunteer role you’ve been asked to fill. I haven’t researched it, I may be wrong, but it seems like we have either pulled back due to apathy or we’re trying to control everything. Maybe it’s both. Look at your own life and decide for yourself.

Men have the responsibility to be persons of action – to reject the standard of quiet desperation that the uninitiated choose by default – to chase down purpose with reckless abandon – to serve a cause greater than our self-interest to become the king over our castle.

How many arguments do you engage in every day? Whether it’s with your spouse, family member, co-worker, friend, or on social media, do you find yourself engaging in trying to prove your point?

Unfortunately, we are living in a culture in which many men have been on the receiving or giving end of egregious intentional wrong-doing. Many men have been living through years of painful relationships that have damaged their ability to engage in peaceful and fruitful relationships. These circumstances may result in an attitude of unforgiveness, which can spiral down into bitterness. Bitterness blows out the candle of peace and joy in a soul, leaving it empty.
